School History

Welcome to Hilliard Elementary
Hilliard Elementary was originally established in 1963. The current campus was constructed in 2000. In 2013, the school became part of Houston Independent School District.
History Behind the School’s Name
Hilliard Elementary is named in honor of Dr. Asa Grant Hilliard III, an esteemed educator, psychologist, and historian known for his work in education and cultural understanding. His legacy continues to inspire the school’s commitment to academic excellence and cultural pride.
Community Served
The school serves students from the Settegast and North Forest communities in Northeast Houston, a historically cultured neighborhood with strong roots and deep community ties. Hilliard Elementary strives to be a hub of learning and support in the area, nurturing students in a safe, inclusive, and academically rich environment.
Looking Ahead
At Hilliard Elementary, we are proud of where we come from and even more excited about where we’re going. Our campus remains dedicated to empowering students, supporting families, and building a strong foundation for future success.
